I’ve worked with St Nicholas Hospice on a number of projects and events but this has to be one of the most fun. In 2014 I was asked to join them in their Jail & Bail Fund Raising Event.
On March 7th 2014 event organiser Abby Mayes and myself were escorted around Bury St Edmunds by police officers to arrest a mixture of the towns well known public faces including Bury’s Chair of Chamber of Commerce Colin Knight, West Suffolk College Principal Nikkos Savvas and even King Edward & County Upper Head Masters Geoff Barton & Vicky Neale who were arrested during full school assembly. We even arrested Suffolks very own Police & Crime Commissioner Tim Passmore. He was charged with drinking too much tea without paying a consumption tax!
After being tricked into trying on a police officers hat, I too was arrested. For impersonating a police officer!
Each suspect was set bail at £500 to be raised by sponsorship. All 12 suspects bail was raised and an amazing £12000 was raised for St Nicholas Hospice that day.
