As a youngster I spent much of my time drawing and painting. I have always loved art and creating things that draw peoples attention. My mother will say as a child I didn’t really need toys. Just a pencil and paper. I left school with A grades in Art, Design plus a B in Technology. But once employed finding the time for my art became more and more challenging.
In 2003 I was given the opportunity to work in a photography studio for a local company. I have always had an interest in photography but it was here that a love and passion for this art from began. My job at the time involved product and catalogue and I soon brought my first professional camera and from the moment it left the box, it never left my hand.
Collecting the Velvet Award in 2013
I passed my 1st Diploma in digital photography in 2005 and by the end of 2006 I had passed my 2nd with my final submission being described by my tutors as “one of the best submissions we have ever had.” Along with my work colleague at the time they convinced that I could build my own business and in 2007 I photographed my first wedding. And from that day I realised where my future was. After building my reputation and portfolio, in 2011 I handed in my notice to my employer and went self-employed. I have never looked back.
I am very passionate about photography. Even when not capturing someone’s special day I can still be found working in other areas of photography, studying or even working on my own projects. I regularly donate my services to local charity organisations such as St Nicholas Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support Unit. When I have the time I will attend local sporting events and had a number of images published in the local newspaper. My son and I also attend car shows at Santa Pod at least twice a year. He has his own camera and has produced some pretty impressive work and also had images published locally.
Having a general love and passion helps me stay creative and helps me be prepared for different situations. Having an artistic background I believe also gives me a little edge and the ability to offer something a little different. Part of my job as a photographer is to capture subjects and moments from their best angles and in the most creative way. I love to produce work that has that ‘wow’ factor. I especially love to produce images that tell a story. Photos can bring years of happiness and help share memories over many generations. And this makes wedding photography perfect for me.

The opportunity to capture such an important day in someone’s life and provide them with images that will make them laugh, cry and relive all those special moments for years to come is something so satisfying I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. It is an honour to be part of such a special occasion.
