At one of the many weddings I photographed in 2017 the Bride and Groom had come up with a fantastic idea for their table plan.
Table plans are generally the board that lists the tables and guests for the wedding breakfast and where everyone is seated.
For this wedding the happy couple wanted to do something a little different and fun. Firstly they named every table after their favourite landmarks/places in New York as this is where they got engaged. Tables were named Liberty Island, Hudson River, Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square & Bryant Park.
Normally each of these tables would be displayed on the seating plan with names under the table of who was seated there. But here is the fun part. The couple decided that instead of listing the guests they would instead find a photograph of each one, wherever possible an embarrassing photo, and print this photo on a polaroid style image (leaving a white space below the photo).
In the white space they added the name of the table where this guest was sitting. The photos were then randomly placed on the board which was named “Find Your Face Find Your Seat!”
Watching the guests look through the photos having to study each one to find there’s was hysterical. It brought out fits of laughter from the guests, a few were slightly embarrassed, but it was all done in good fun and a great way to get guests interacting and enjoying what was already an amazingly day filled with joy and laughter.
