December 7th 2017. Not the warmest time of year for a wedding. Unless your in Jamaica.
The wedding venue was Club Hotel in Rio Ocha. A gorgeous resort that sits on the sunny palm tree beaches on the north side of the island. The perfect location for a wedding on the beach.
Not only was my first destination a great experience. It was also great fun. The day was perfect. Beautiful weather on a beautiful beach for a beautiful couple. Daisy and Conor. Mr & Mrs Jameson.
You will notice that some of these images were taken in the water. This is something I would never do unless the Bride and Groom are fully happy to do so. And if this is something they request takes a little planning which as you can see results in some really dramatic, creative, once in a lifetime photo opportunities.
For one of my favourite images I needed help from a few of the guests so I assembled my crew. Two were my lighting assistants. Another two were my water operatives (they had to splash a lot of water in the pool). Not only was creating this image below great fun, it was also a great example of team work. Understanding controlling of light isn’t as easy as it sounds. But my crew were brilliant and this images wouldn’t have been possible without them.
I could write a huge essay about this experience and how amazing it was but I know people just want to see the pictures. Included in this post are just a few of my favourites. A bigger selection can be found on their online album. Just follow this link:
I’ve always wanted to photograph a wedding abroad. And being from the UK I always thought that if the chance came it would be somewhere in Europe. Not half way across the world. My second destination wedding is on the 13th February 2018. Not long to go. And for that I will be heading all the way back, flying past Jamaica and on to the gorgeous beaches of Riviera Maya, Mexico.
