A few points to consider if you’re considering getting married abroad:
For all three I have covered so far guests were invited on the basis of “you are more than welcome to come and we’d love you to be there but you will have to pay for yourself.” I can honestly say that there was a good turn out for all three destination wedding’s I have covered. Everyone had a great time and all three sets of Bride and Groom’s loved everyone being there.
There may be some people that due to work or family commitments would not be able to make it. This s why many people also decide to have a UK blessing or just evening reception when they return. A UK blessing can be very much the same as a Wedding Day. An evening reception can be whatever you want it to be. A great chance to celebrate with everyone else.
How far are you happy to go? For me I cannot recommend the Grand Sirenis, Riveria Maya, Mexico enough. Absolutely amazing resort. Lots to do. Great food. Great entertainment. You cannot go wrong here. But there are many other destinations across the world. Spain, Greece, Italy, Jamaica, Vegas, Canada. All have great resorts and venues for you to have your dream wedding. Many offering all inclusive stays.
Obviously Europes summer times are very similar to ours. But over in the Caribbean December through to April are great times to get married. Just make sure you take plenty of suncream.
There are advantages to both of these. The resort photographer will obviously know the area well and all the best spots. Saying that I love nothing more than a new venue and scenery.
Hopefully the resort photographer will talk good English and be easy to understand.
Depending on how long your photographer is staying the resort may want to charge you extra for bringing your own. This can also depend on whether he/she is on your guest list.
Before booking either check what both are offering and prices. With all my weddings I like to cover the full day. From bridal prep right through to the first dance. Otherwise I do not feel I am doing my job properly. I want to give my clients all I can. I also still offer the free pre-wedding photoshoot. This can be done in the UK or when we arrive at your destination. It is a great way to get you feeling relaxed, confident and ready for your big day.
For any couple wishing to take me with them I also offer a free post-wedding photoshoot. This usually takes place 2 or 3 days after the wedding. It’s a chance for you to wear your wedding dress and suit again. It also gives us a chance to be extra creative and spend some time on images. Go to the parts of the beach we couldn’t get to on your wedding day. Go in the sea or pool if you wish. Get up for the sunrise. Be ready for the sunset. It also means we can relax a bit more on your wedding day.
Obviously I will be taking beautiful photos of you both on the day but the post-wedding shoot can give you that something extra special.
